The database does not show squat
« on: October 28, 2009, 12:55:19 PM »
Hi, I just started using rockbox on my Sansa Fuze today, and I must say that I'm very impressed so far. It's awesome that I have the possibility to run open source code on my proprietary device, code that seems (at least to me) even better than that of the original firmware! So without further ado, to my question:

When I try to initialize the database, it says it finds 9 files or so (wich would correspond to the amount of folders it should find), but my musicfiles are nowhere to be found in the database when I've restarted the device. I figured at first it might have to do with image-tags in some of the files I loaded over to my fuze. So I deleted the the database files, and put a mp3-file without an image tag in my music directory (/Music btw, if that could be a problem?). Still, when I initialized the database and rebooted, there were no files to be found. So now my question is, what is wrong? Are some tag-fields requiered for the database to recognize the files? Are there any tags that would cause the indexing to go nuts and not work because of that?
I don't get any error reports while indexing to the database.

The version of rockbox I'm using is r23378-091028.

If it is of any help I used the rockbox utility under a 64 bit linux distribution (built from source) to install rockbox to my fuze. I don't see why that would be relevant, but who knows :).

I know I'm using an unstable build, but from the looks of it, this forum seems to be fine for asking about issues with these builds as well (I don't know if it's the builds fault though). I've also searched both the wiki, manual and the forums for an answer to this, so if there is an answer to my problem, I just haven't found it. If there is, I'm truly sorry for that.

Thanks in advance, and kudos for an awesome firmware  ;D!

Edit: Oh, and I have fiddled with the settings, so if there is anything in there that might cause conflicts, please let me know of these as well. //Newbie

Music might not sound better when it's free, but you're free to listen to it how you want to and when you want to!

Can you play the music you added from the "Files" menu?

Yes, should've written that of course :P.

Edit: I updated to a newer build, and all of a sudden it was working. I guess the problem is solved then :D!
