C250v1 USB Mode Questions (remote_control)
(1/1)
sr00t:
Hi to everyone that reads this. I'd like to apologise for my rudimentary english first.
Whenever I connect my sansa (using main v3.4 and bootloader v6.0) to an USB cable first appears the USB logo on the LCD screen, and then my PC detects it perfectly.
But my question is how do I open a menu and start browsing rockbox like its on WITHOUT an USB because I'd like to use it with the new app included named remote_control.
I tried with every key in the gadget without a reaction, it only turns on the light and show me the USB logo.
I've searched down the forums but I don't find any thread relevant.
Thanks for your patience and many many thanks for your incredible soft
Greets from a very happy argentinian user!
edited for making the subject of the thread more specifical.
saratoga:
If you want to use it as a remote control (USB HID device), just mount it normally as a USB device and it will send HID commands to Windows/Linux.

Thanks but I don't know if that answers my question.
I'll explain you more carefully: I know that when you connect the Sansa in USB mode to the PC and if you have one music player executing in your PC (foobar2000 in my case) it takes the press of the buttons to change songs, mute, and play/pause.
But I've noticed this new app in the plugins menu named remote_control that will let you manage some specific commands like ESC in your PC, or presentations.
It only works in my music player, but not with windows or pps presentations, then I think there's something I'm doing wrong. How can I select which feature (windows commands, presentation, music player) if I can't get into the menu to open that app and select which one I want? Or it's supposed to let Rockbox automatically do that while connected in USB mode?
I hope I was clear explaining my problem, english is not my thing.
Thanks.

While you are in Rockbox' USB screen you see which "remote" mode the player is currently in. You can change this and cycle through the different modes (that were also included in the plugin you mention) by pressing the "Rec" button on the c200. Change until it says "Multimedia mode" and it will simulate the same keys (the multimedia keys) it did before exclusively.
I guess the remote_control plugin is a bit redundant at the moment...

Thanks for the answer.
It really doesn't do anything by pressing REC while in USB mode. It only lights up the leds and shows me the USB logo (nothing like "multimedia mode" or something like that appears). It remains stable, without changing anything, only turning on the device's lights.
It's alright tough, I think I don't need this function, it's only for report purposes that I tell you this.
Thank you a lot ;).
