Sansa Fuze: Separate audiobook dealing
« on: October 25, 2009, 03:42:57 PM »
Hello,

I think it would be good if the dealing with audiobook is separated from the normal playback.
For example it sucks if you forgot to deactivate Shuffle when you listen to a audiobook.

Audiobooks are just an audio file, same as anything else.  Why should they get special handling?

Like in the original firmware.
You drop the audiobook files in a seperate folder and now the software knows that it is an audiobook.
And you have a seperate audiobook menu item in the database of the original firmware where  the files from the audiobook folder are listed

Since Rockbox already has a file browser, if you put all your audio books in an audiobooks folder, then you can view them from there.

Or set the genre tag and use the database to do the same thing.

Yes, as i described in my post not the folder is the problem, the problems are things like shuffle and so.
It's not a thing what you absolutely need, it's simply very useful.

You can exclude your audiobook folder from the random-folder-advance list and prevent it from being indexed in the database if you prefer that.  This is what I do with my audiobooks.  I don't find it too troublesome to select an audiobook from the file browser on those occasions that I want to listen to one.
