Nano 2G Doesn't Show in Explorer
« on: October 24, 2009, 01:38:52 PM »
I have read the thing about enabling disk use and that stuff. And I have searched. But nothing I've tried works.
But yeah, I plug in the iPod and it doesn't show up in Computer on Windows 7.
Now that I think of it, probably a Windows 7 problem, maybe.
The only way I can transfer music onto it is to go into the iPod firmware and plug it in then drag-and-drop because then it finds the iPod, but that get's annoying to do.

I know it's not a full port yet, just like to put the information out there for you guys just in case you guys don't already know.
Oh and also, there's no safely remove hardware for it. I view the hardware and it shows as a keyboard device, but no option to remove it.

Try this:

Go into the system settings in rockbox, and disable "USB hid" option.

Now this way, my windows xp recognised the player. But i got bigger problems. Every time i copy files to ipod, it crashes and "you need to restore ipod" message comes up. So i use an older build of rockbox. Try it, may be you don't have that problem.

Let's all be patient for a stable release.

twilightened, can you tell me which revision you're having that problem with? That's supposed to be fixed since r23307, and r23308 enabled USB support, so it shouldn't have occurred to anyone besides the early testers that enabled USB support manually.
Regarding the HID: This is just weird. I can't see what could cause that...

I had last nights revision. Now it's happening for me.
I'm restoring right now, and I am going to install the latest one, which I guess is today's.
(r23339-091024).
Seems to be working. Will report back in the future.

So the HID-related problem went away with r23339? or how do you mean that?

The problem that twilightened had started happening to me.
But i restore and for now, it seems to be working fine. But that's what it was like for a few restarts for me, working fine. And then I let it die and the restore iPod screen showed up.
