Get S30 out of recovery mode??
« on: October 23, 2009, 12:13:06 PM »
Hey I have  a large problem. My gigabeat S30 wont connect through USB and its in recovery mode.
Before recovery mode it would do Connected. Done. Then continue this cycle.
If anyone can help me get it out of recovery mode, it would be greatly greatly appreciated! Or even how to fix the Connected. Done cycle?

Thanks,
Chris

what do you mean by "won't connect"? If the Gigabeat needs to restore its firmware it stays in that mode until you have sent it a proper firmware. It won't show up in Windows Exporer if its in that state. You can use beastpatcher for sending the firmware, and you can install the Rockbox bootloader the same time. Be aware that some players reject the single boot firmware, so you might need to install a dual-boot bootloader.
If you don't plan to install Rockbox you can simply send an original firmware file using
Code: [Select]
beastpatcher -s nk.bin

If you want to install Rockbox the same time use this instead
Code: [Select]
beastpatcher -d nk.bin

What i mean is that it just stays in this cycle of "connected" then "disconnected"

Then you haven't sent it a valid firmware.

As bluebrother mentioned, you haven't sent it a valid firmware.

You have two options:

1) Restore the Gigabeat S back to factory settings by following its restore mode instructions and try again, or

2) Send a valid single-boot or dual-boot firmware to it.
