AJBR 20 V1 - "HD REGISTRY ERROR"

(1/1)

Stringrazor:
My trusty, 8-year old AJBR V1 won't spin up the drive anymore. It just displays this:

hd registry error

sc1 (85) 227
sn1 (170) 0
sc2 (170) 18
sn2 (85) 211

One day it worked, the next it didn't. The drive sems to be fine in a USB enclosure and I bought and fully charged new batteries. I recently installed a new DC jack and the AJBR was working fine for a while afterwards. I also resoldered all the ground points but for some reason, it never spins up the drive. I have a Tosiba 100GB drive in it but I also tried the original 20GB drive and it won't spin that one up either. Both drives are accessible and checkout OK when accessed in a standard USB enclosure.

I'd been running a recent RB release (can't remember exactly which, probably v3) but I never flashed it. Any suggestions on how to revive it would be appreciated.

Also, my searches keep turning up this link: http://www.rockbox.org/docs/repairbattery.html
which no longer exists. Is that doc still available somewhere?

krazykit:
Archive.org has a snapshot of it.

Stringrazor:
Thanks!

Unfortunately, I'd already resoldered those points with no effects and then later while poking around with clip leads, I literally smoked somthing in the power section.  I have a pile of spare parts now. At least my drive and data are ok and accessible in a USB case. I'm looking at either picking up another AJBR on ebay (getting very scarce these days) or maybe getting an older 80GB iPod.

Stringrazor:
Bye bye, Archos. Hello iPod 5.5gen 80GB. Picked one off ebay and it should arrive in a few days. Looking forward to not being tied to mp3 & wav formats.
