Increase font size for 'status bar' items possible?
« on: October 20, 2009, 06:30:55 PM »
Hi All,

I searched the forums to see if this had been answered yet but I didn't find it.

I have a Sansa e260.

I am using the 'Rockbox_default' theme with the '18-Adobe-Helvetica-Bold' font.

Black background and bright green foreground.

I have the status bar at the bottom.

My favorite combo of themes, colors and fonts so far.

Now, to make the whole thing perfect (for me at least) I would like to increase the size of the font for the status bar items (battery, volume and time). Doubling the size would be ideal. Is this possible and if it is how do I do it?

I searched the manual too and all it says about modifying the status bar is to display it or not display it.

I'm hoping there's a config type file that I can enter some new values into to do what I want.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers.

I would like to increase the size of the font for the status bar items (battery, volume and time).

This can be accomplished with a feature that has just been added to Rockbox.  You can check this forum thread for more information - Customisable Statusbar.

The font you use will be limited to the system font or a user selected font, which you have chosen to be '18-Adobe-Helvetica-Bold'.

Thanks for the quick response!

I did see the other thread which prompted me to post my question.

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer so I wasn't sure if the info in the other post applied exactly to what I want to do.

I followed the link from the other post where it tells how to display or not display the status bar. I looked through the rest of the page but it wasn't clear to me how I change the size of the font.

Create a new file with "Viewports" and and do something with xy coordinates?

I think this is way over my head.  :o

I can get by with the display I have now just fine. I love Rockbox! Thanks again.

In that case, keep watching the themes site for new themes that make use of the custom status bar.  There are bound to be some really good looking themes coming soon from the talented people that enjoy doing theme development.
