auto patcher?

(1/1)

lolsack:
ok my idea is an viewer in rockbox that when you select and open a .patch file or .diff and ask you if you want to add this patch to your build then when you say yes it shows you what its going to be changing, then asks you a second time if you want to install this patch then if select yes again it starts installing the patch (somehow, havent figured that out yet) then when its finished you reboot your device to complete the patching.

I have posted this because hopefully it will be taken up by talented scripters to help people who just can't figure out how to compile rockpox patches (as I).

So good idea or is this just a lost cause?

PaulPosition:
Sorry to disappoint but I'd think it wouldn't be possible. Compiling a rockbox build on a modern computer takes a good few minutes, up to maybe ten of them. The processor on a digital audio player is much, much less powerful. It would take day.

And then, anyway, the rockbox firmware is not the sort of operating system that could support a C language building environment (it's more of a windows/osX/Linux thing...).

See discussion in the last thread about this.
