THANK YOU :-)
« on: October 16, 2009, 06:00:59 PM »
After almost a year of patience with a sluggish, incompetent and painfully ugly 'playschool' UI, I decided to take a chance and rockbox my Sansa Fuze (thinking it was unsupported).

To my delight the V1 was supported, and I really can't explain how much of an improvement rockbox is over the original UI. Sound quality is great, I can tweak every aspect of the audio. It's faster, it looks better, I have dozens of excellent plugins. It generally does exactly everything that I want, where I want it.

It's like I've paid hundreds of dollars for a premium product, but best of all it's open-source, just like my OS ;-)

SO, if any of the developers are reading, I just want to express my thanks to you all for finding a great new love with my mp3 player!

Cheers.

I'm going to quickly echo your sentiments, and add something that occurred to me recently: I'm so happy Rockbox exists and supports such a wide variety of DAPs for the sole purpose that I don't have to re-learn a new interface if I buy a new player.  I just load Rockbox on it and off I go.  Familiar environment.

It floors me how genius you developers are.

I bought a sansa fuze recently and it was delivered yesterday. It was second hand so I was hoping that it would be a v1 fuze. I've now got rockbox fully customised and working perfectly to my taste. I never knew that rockbox would be such a huge improvement. I got a 16GB player with awesome headphones and a brilliant OS for under £65. Rockbox and the Sansa Fuze are like the perfect couple. Thanks rockbox devs!

An ipod without rockbox is literally "junk". That is true. Try applying an eq setting on an ipod firmware, and hear all the distortion it adds to your precious music. May be DAP companies should hire a third party software developer to implement to their gadgets. I actually think they should pay rockbox :) So what about that ?

I have been using RockBox on my Fuze for about a week.  It is a HUGE improvement, especially in sound quality.  The first time I booted Rockbox I was amazed, there was no "I think this sounds better but I am not sure, lets me list to it using Sansa firmware again."  It was more like WOW!  What a difference.

This is my second Fuze, the first was a V2 but I tripped and fell on it the first day I had it.  The screen broke and so the unit was unusable.  (Fortunately my credit card covered the damage) so when I got the replacement it was a V1.  Now that I know V1 can run Rockbox, am I glad I broke the V2 unit.

I have a suggestion for the developers and am not sure where to put it, so here goes.....

Since the Fuze has the ability to play video files also, please leave the dual boot capability even after the USB issue is worked out.  There is no sense waisting your time trying to get Rockbox to do video, but being able to get to the Sansa firmware to play short videos is nice.

Thanks for all your hard work on a GREAT open source product!

Would also like to add my appreciation.
The Fuze w/Rockbox does everything that all my best players did in the past.
(Rio Karma, Trekstor Vibez, 2 of the best players ever on the market)

I almost had tears in my eyes as I went through every page of the manual thinking "finally my player does what I want it to!"

Thanks you RB developers!!!

I have no Fuze, but instead an E250, and I'd like to express my appreciation as well. Rockbox changed my sans from an OK mediaplayer to a great versatile device, and with MIDI support along with the tuner it has gotten more and more useful, and it doesn't seem like that will stop anytime soon :)

I am a very new user of Rockbox and everything I see is GREAT.  Being a electronic technician the Sansa software was restricted and disappointing.  I purchased a Sandisk e260 refurbished from Woot.com and used it for a couple of years but never for a critical situation because of not being folder driven. Rockbox opens it up completely.

I am very impressed.  Good job.

I appreciate all the hard work and dedication.

I would like to say a big thank you to the Rockbox team for all the work they've done on various players. I have five players bought off Ebay, cheap and second hand which might seem a bit dated but are running the latest and as far as I'm concerned best mp3 firmware. I would like to thank the people for the work behind the Mrobe 500. It's my latest buy and is coming along nicely.

Michael.
