Installation: Intel Mac, OSX 10.5.8, 10GB Gen 3 iPod

I have a gen3 10GB iPod... it is not listed in the partition tables.
Am I the only person in the world with a 10 GB 3rd generation iPod?  It seems so unlikely.
Do you recommend installing the partition table for the 10 GB 2nd generation iPod on this model?

Here is what the utility tells me about my unit:

[INFO] Scanning disk devices...
[INFO] [ERR]  Sending SCSI Command failed.
[INFO] Ipod found - 3rd Generation ("macpod") - /dev/disk5
[INFO] Reading partition table from /dev/disk5

1) My gen 3 iPod connects using Firewire... am I stumped from the start?
2) I try to install iPod patcher... no luck
3) I try to install bootloader and I get Warning: this is a MacPod, Rockbox only Winpods.See
Am I missing something about formatting the iPod's hard drive prior to installation?
3) I really cannot find a step by step installation procedure on your website that helps me figure this out. Doh!  I just found the gen3 Manual, never mind.
4) I am in the Apple - Installation / Removal directory of the forum and it appears that there are a lot of questions that ignore the primary stickie indicating that this section is only for Mac installations... are these people half-wits, or am I too fussy?   ::)   :D

tbat:
Silence, huh? :-\
Thanks for the support and good luck!   :-*

Since no one has ever dumped a 3G 10GB partition I think your best bet is to reformat your iPod on a windows machine using iTunes.  That will give you the right partition.

tbat:
Great, thanks
