Sansa Fuze v1: Compliment & Issues
« on: October 15, 2009, 12:30:14 PM »
First off, I'd like to say that even though it (the Fuze port) is said to be unstable, it has proven to be very stable, and I'd like to say how impressed I am with Rockbox. The only things I'm missing in the Games plugin section are Zuma and Tetris ;) (yes, I realize it's unlikely these will be made for Rockbox, just a thought :) )

Anyways, the only issues I've had are creating playlists (when I try to create one on the Fuze, a message flashes so fast I can't read it, and the playlist doesn't show up; I'd read the Fuze manual on how to do this, except that there currently isn't a manual), and the screen will occasionally glitch up (the lines will scramble) then fix itself within a few seconds. These aren't big issues, just minor annoyances.

Anyways, I just thought I'd tip my hat to the Rockbox team and offer my experience to (hopefully) improve Rockbox.

If there is another section of the forum that this belongs in, feel free to move it, and I will find it again; I didn't see a bug reporting forum, so I didn't know where else to put it ;)

The playlist section is the same in all manuals.

And there is a Tetris clone in rockbox, it just has a different name :-)

I see, good to hear (or read, rather) :D

Anyways, I just came up with another issue: Whenever I plug the Fuze into the computer and unplug it again, it reverts back to the original firmware. I can't test it plugging it in to a regular outlet or car because I don't have a plug, docking station, or such.

Whenever I plug the Fuze into the computer and unplug it again, it reverts back to the original firmware.

This is normal behavior since the USB in Rockbox has not been completed yet for this model.

If you want to charge, you can press the center/select button while inserting the USB cable.  This allows you to charge the battery while still using the Fuze.

The manual for the Fuze is now available.  You can access it online, or download it to your computer.  Just follow the "manual" link in the column on the left.

My compliments also. I'm finding the e200v2/Fuze ports to be very stable and efficient. I'm seeing some freeze issues, but I believe this is more involved with particular WPS. I normally use Spartan Black and never have a freeze issue and the system works amazingly well. When I use other WPS, like AW140, I sometimes get a freeze issue if pressing track skip too soon after a preceding press.
