Tortoise SVN Problems
« on: October 13, 2009, 01:43:00 PM »
Hi,
I just installed Tortoise SVN to help me update my build, because the SVN built into Cygwin doesn't work properly.  I followed the instruction on the wiki for using it with Cygwin, and Cygwin setup says i'm using DOS mode but when I type make I get this error (I attatched the image). Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Will

I think you should figure out why your cygwin SVN wasn't working.

I know why it wasn't working, and it is never going to work on my PC.  I am looking for help on this problem.

And why is this the cause? You're most likely running in an issue due to mixed line endings, which can be quite nasty.

Tortoise svn downloads properly but the source doesn't compile.  The built in SVN doesn't download because of an internet filtering app (i prefer tortoise anyways if i can get it to work.)

Did you try with a clean build directory ?
(not only "make clean", remove everything in the build directory and reconfigure).

And as a Note: TortouiseSVN works fine, if correctly configured :-)

Just tried... Didn't help (Exact same error).

EDIT: My line endings are configured properly:

Quote
typing "echo > a.txt" will tell you.  If the resulting a.txt file is 1 byte in size, then you're still using Unix line-endings, if it's two bytes, then it's [...] configured with CR+LF.

The output file is 2 bytes.

I'll try downloading 3.4 with tortoisesvn and try again.

For what it is worth:

I have been using tortoiseSVN and cygwin (configured for UNIX line endings) exclusively for years (since Rockbox changed to SVN).

Let us know what's wrong with normal svn, since if there are permanent issues preventing it from working it may indicate other problems in general?

Since I am using a win pc shared with my whole family, which includes children, we have content filtering software (contentwatch).  When ever I use svn in cygwin, a popup says content watch encountered an error and after, cygwin says it can't connect to dl the files.  Tortoise SVN doesn't have this problem.
