Rockbox Utility Says "Does Not Detect," E260R Version 1
« on: October 07, 2009, 07:05:43 AM »
Whenever I open the Rockbox installer, it always says that it sees my player, but when I try to install it, I clicked install, then it says "no sansa detected!"

I seriously can't do anything to my player involving rockbox, and I'm 100% sure it's a version 1, it starts with a 1. Everything was checked, even a friend who has the 6gb (I have the Rhapsody 4GB) version tried, but I can't get past that message. When I chose the manual install, it installed, but rockbox doesn't start at all, all the files are on the player, but RB doesn't start.

I've tried installing it on Rhapsody mode in options, I haven't tried the MTP mode. I clicked autodetect in the options and chose the drive (which is the player's main drive,) doesn'[t do anything. Though, it says in the main window that the selected device is my Sandisk Sansa e200v1 series at G:\...

I have tried the e200r patcher, that also doesn't detect my player!

What the heck should I do!?

The rbutil does not support installation on the Sansa e200r models.

To install on these models, please follow the instructions here: SansaE200RInstallation

The bootloader does not read my player though! I put it in the safety/UMT mode or whatever, normal mode, no matter what mode I put it in, it never detects my player!

Edit: GREAT! Now I think I fucked up my player, I did everything exactly like in those steps, now when I turn on my player, it says "Load main image failed, use recovery mode." Then when I plug it in, it's still using the manufacturers driver and I can't even see the disc drive anymore, I only see it in device manager as a usb device... Now what? How can I just get back to the regular firmware, this is way too much trouble.

Edit: I made the driver choose an old driver, and did the unbrick method... Had I known it'd be this much trouble just to add rockbox only so I might be able to put some gameboy games on it, I'd never fuck with my mp3 player.

This is way too much shit to do, I wish they make an installer for the R series already.

Who's "they"? Rockbox is made by volunteers, and "they" are not planning to to things just because you messed up the installation. Feel free to send patches for adding support to Rockbox Utility for the e200r.

If I type E200 on google, I found more cases of problems than buying links, that's why I should have known. Of course someone would want an installer of a software that's hard to install yet better than your current software for your MP3 player :D

As I told you before, you have an e200R, not an e200.  The e200 has a simple to use installer.  The e200R does not because installing is a lot more complicated.

Well, as bluebrother said, feel free to write an installer.  However given that the install process on Windows involves installing a new USB driver, I think it'll be extremely difficult to automate.

Thanks for helping me here and on the ABI forum. As stated in that forum too, I followed everything from the link you gave me for the e200r (thanks,) but when I loaded it, it said "load main image failed, please use recovery mode."

I did EVERYTHING from the FAQ slowly and step by step, and it says that every time, even from a fresh format.

Which FAQ are you talking about? Did you follow these instructions? What are you referring to by "fresh format"? Following these instructions?

Let me start over.

Yes, I followed those instruction in that link you just posted, bluebrother, to install the Rockbox on my E260R. It said "load main image failed,) so I went to the unbrick FAQ and restored my firmware to it's original, as in the unbricking FAQ link you also posted. So now I have my player in the regular mode (Rhapsody firmware.)

It somehow doesn't want to work :(

If I understand correctly, you now have your e260r working with the original Rhapsody firmware.

In reviewing your previous posts, I cannot find where you mentioned which version your Rhapsody firmware is.  It may be that you have a newer version that is not supported by the e200rpatcher.  Please check your firmware version and post it here.

I have been able to install Rockbox on my e270r (with firmware v1.0.2.31) using both the Windows and the Linux procedures on the SansaE200RInstallation page.  The procedure does work, but I have not tried with any other Rhapsody firmware versions.
