Ipod video, always boots to recording

Every time I turn my Ipod on, it immediately starts recording after booting, rather than going to the main menu. Any ideas why this is?

as a side question, is there any way to personalize the menu structure in order to minimize clicking to get to the most common features, ie can I put a shortcut to database>album artist right on the main menu?

You set the start up screen to record at a guess.
