Bootloader error -4
« on: October 02, 2009, 02:33:05 PM »
One of my friends irivers has error code -4 on boot. It won't boot to rockbox. Just freezes.
I can't really find out what it means as there doesn't seem to be a guide on the web nor are there any hits on this forum.

Anyone knows?

Can't think of anything else but the HD, but i can't check his iriver.

If you put the -4 in quotes you can search for it (but it only looks for the 4 - must read up on the search)

It is most hits are on the iPod and it refers to a corrupt rockbox firmware file - you don't say which iRiver it is - might it be an H10? (that has similar architecture to the H10)

Sorry i forgot. It is an Iriver H120. The config has been working fine for about 9 months. Suddenly this error shows up. The player wasn't updated prior to this error. (software / firmware)

Well as far as I can tell from reading the source it means hat the bootloader found a file that it thinks is the firmware (rockbox.iriver), managed to read the header, but failed to load the firmware in to memory to checksum it.

I guess your friend to check the drive for errors then re-load rockbox.

If they need more support it would be really useful to have the exact messages that the bootloader outputs.
