is it me or does the database comit everytime i start up my player?

so recently when i updated to 3.4 whenever i turn on my mp3 player gigabeat f it says committing database 1/9. it does this everytime. is it supposed to do this now?

No.  Try either reinitialising it, or delete *.tcd from the .rockbox directory then reinitialise it.  Make sure to export any changes/ratings etc. first.
