Iriver will not read in computer - possible bootloader issue
Multiplex:
Maybe. Those are possibilities but I was basing my assessment on the description of what was going on when the H100 was plugged in - and a lot of hope...
I'm hoping that the symptoms are caused by by partition table/FAT corruption (and the iRiver software is very tolerant of disk errors).
Another long shot is the infamous USB/Disk board issue.
It would be possibly to qualify the symptoms by taking the drive out and putting it into a caddy or the H300 (rockbox won't work of course!) - but speaking as someone else who has an H100 and an H300 I wouldn't go to that effort...

Thanks for the great input. The iriver will not read in any of the usb ports on my computer through the usb hub or direct inputs. I am trying to hook with someone else to see if it can read the iiriver on a diff computer or not. The h320 I have as well reads fine on any of the usb ports including the hub. The iriver h120 in which I am having the problems with will boot up in the original firmware and it shows the files for rockbox. Is it possible to delete the rockbox files and then re-connect to my computer and start from ground zero. I have a feeling that f I can delete the possibly corruped rockbox firmware I can get the computer to read my iriver h120 again with just the original firmware. and then reload the rockbox software.
>>>>It is unlikely to be a corrupted bootloader - writing to that needs the upgrade mechanism of the original firmware, and you can sart the original firmware and it sounds like it is running OK.
Can you connect to your H100 using the USB when running the original firmware or in the bootloader (plug in the USB with the unit switched off)?
What exactly do you see on your screen when trying to boot Rockbox on the player?
-----I have done this and the iriver h120 will show that it uis connected via usb but the explorer on my computer bogs down and unable to read it as a drive/device (it should read as hard drive (P) on my computer. I have tried getting the computer to read the iriver h120 inserting teh iriver powered off connected to the computer and then turning the unit and with power plugging into my computer. Thanks for everyones assistance. Cheers, Mike

The USB on the H120 is controlled by hardware, not software. Removing Rockbox will not solve your problem.

so how do I get my iriver to read on my computer or is it fried? I can hear the drive trying to work when I do plug it into my computer like it is trying to work.

If you can't find any tools to check/repair the drive while it is trying to connect to the PC then I guess the options are;
A) re-format the drive using the original firmware and see if you can now read/write the drive (if so re-installing rockbox is simply to unzip the latest build to the root of the H100 drive)
or
B) connect the drive to the PC using some other method (1.8 inch caddy, or the H300) and see if you can read it - if you can it is likely that he H100 is fried :'( even then though you could get the latest Rockbox and you music on to the drive and put it back into the H100 and hope that it then works (but no USB)
Out of interest can you play any of the music files on the HDD in the original firmware? (assuming that they are compatible)
