Iriver will not read in computer - possible bootloader issue

<< < (3/3)

med9:
I can hear the drive trying to work when I plug it in the pc. I have to use the reset button on the bottom to turn it off after inserting in the computer. I can play music on the iriver when in rockbox mode and plays fine. when I went to go to the record for audio or voice the screen went blank and usually it will show the show the recording screen with the time and meters. Thus my reason to believe the files are corrupted and not syncing together with the hardware. when I plug it into the compuer the iriver screen says it connected but does not read on the computer.  when I plug the unit in my computer on the rockbox mode it will read that is plugged into teh computer but the computer does not read it, also then I unplugf the unit from the machine and the usb indicator goes off and shows the main menu for rockbox.

is there anyway I can delete the rockbox files when using the original software, I am still thinking the software is corrupted.

I would like to see how my iriver reacts in a different computer with the original software and with the rockbox software

I appreciate all of the support on this matter. Cheers, Mike

is there any other way of getting teh files to the iriver to re-format the unit by cd or ?
---- what is an 1/8 caddy - mini plug and how wopuld that interface with the compyuter and all.

If you can't find any tools to check/repair the drive while it is trying to connect to the PC then I guess the options are;
A) re-format the drive using the original firmware and see if you can now read/write the drive (if so re-installing rockbox is simply to unzip the latest build to the root of the H100 drive)

or

B) connect the drive to the PC using some other method (1.8 inch caddy, or the H300) and see if you can read it - if you can it is likely that he H100 is fried :'( even then though you could get the latest Rockbox and you music on to the drive and put it back into the H100 and hope that it then works (but no USB)

Out of interest can you play any of the music files on the HDD in the original firmware? (assuming that they are compatible)

That's very strange - the USB on the iRiver is handled by a dedicated chip and the main CPU just sits idly by waiting for a signal to say thet the USB is finished with the drive.

I'm really begining to think that it might be faulty hardware :-(

I'm pretty sure you can (it's been a long time since I saw the original firmware), certainly you can format the drive.

wow that would suck and I would not to find a new h120. I love this deck.
