Need help installing Rockbox?

(1/2) > >>

Klum:
So I tried using rbutilqt to install Rockbox and the bootloader, and it told me there were network/ proxy errors and that my iPod (1st gen 2 gb nano) couldn't be read. I somehow got the bootloader on my iPod, and I used an ipodpatcher terminal thing, and on my ipod I have "rockbox-ipodnano-20090923-html.zip" an "html" folder full of icons and .png's, and I have a hidden ".rockbox" folder, which only has "rbutil.log". When i try my iPod, it says that it cannot locate "rockbox.ipod". Is there some way i can just download this file to put in the hidden .rockbox folder??

froggyman:
Download the correct build for your device from here: http://build.rockbox.org/

Then simply extract it to the root of your iPod. Then reboot.

I tried this, it extracted fine and all, and I actually found the rockbox.ipod file in finder, and I ejected my iPod, but it took quite a few minutes to eject, and when it finally did eject, my computer popped up with the whole "device removal" error. So I restarted my iPod, and it gave me the same

"Rockbox boot loader
Version:  3.0
IPOD version:  0x000C0006
SST55LD019k-45-C-MWE
Partition 1: 0x0B 1874 MB
Loading Rockbox...
Error!
Can't load rockbox.ipod:
File not found
Hold MENU+SELECT to
reboot then SELECT+PLAY
for disk mode"

Help?  :(

Please post the output of the About / Troubleshooting / System Info window (you can copy from that dialog)

You're missing the main build. The zip file you named is only the manual, thus nothing you need to run Rockbox. The file rbutil.log is created by Rockbox Utility. The main build resides below the .rockbox folder, you should especially see a file called "rockbox.ipod".

Put the Ipod into emergency disk mode (check the IpodFAQ wiki page on how to do that), then install the main build as described in the manual or by using Rockbox Utility.

Okay, nevermind, I realised the the .rockbox folder wasn't in the root folder of my ipod, moved it, and IT WORKS :D and when I plug it into my computer, I learned the hard way that the scroll wheel suddenly controls your computers volume?
