5G ipod Equaliser for line-out?
lostcause:
Hi chaps, looking at the datasheet for the DAC it appears that the equaliser is effective for both line-out and headphone-out, is that correct? I realise the volume doesn't work though.
Cheers
Multiplex:
The Equaliser is not in the DAC/codec it is part of Rockbox - it is applied to the decoded PCM before it is passed to the codec, as are effects like replay gain, and crossfeed. The volume of line out can be effected by using the preamp gain for DSP functions.
Things like volume are done in the codec, and for hardware that supports it treble and bass too, but I don't know what the iPod codec does.
The data sheets for most of the hardware(where they're available) are available in the wiki.

Thanks for that Multiplex,
So from what you are saying, I can use the software EQ within Rockbox to affect the line-out...?
torne:
Yes, the rockbox equaliser will affect all outputs on all devices. Whether the volume/bass/treble controls affect line out is target specific; I know the volume does not affect lineout on ipod and I suspect that the tone controls don't either.

Thanks guys, much appreciated ;)
