KingSpec SSD drive
« on: September 22, 2009, 02:51:59 AM »
I have installed a KingSpec SSD drive in my iPod 5.5. It seems to work fine with the iPod OS, but Rockbox faults and locks up after playing a FLAC for about 5-10 seconds. Has anybody else tried using Rockbox with and SSD?

What exactly do you mean "faults and locks up"?  Is there an error message?  Is it only FLAC files it does this with?

I assume it works properly with the original disk it came with?

It plays for a bit then locks up and must be reset

FLAC - undefined instruction at 67FF3228 (0)

FLAC - data abort at 0000B3DC (0)

FLAC - undefined instruction at 03E80E2C (0)

ALAC - undefined instruction 1092A10C (0)

MP3 - undefined instruction E3E80978 (0)

I cant even get through a song before it locks, I just recently installed the SSD so I haven't extensively tested it yet, but so far zero lockups when booting into the iPods original OS. And yes this iPod has worked beautifully with Rockbox and the standard 30G Toshiba HD.

Are you running the Rockbox build for the 30GB ipod, or the 60/80GB ipod ?

I was thinking of doing the same mod- I just got a used ipod 5.5 gen/ 80 gig- and the loading / startup and response time are soooo much slower than my sansa e280!
which kingspec did you get? The 64 and 128 gb 1.8" ZIFs looked neat, but are pretty $pricey- are those the correct drives?
