iPod Video not recognized by Computer
KoolMan:
I will call him today and see if he backup the OF before doing the OSOS
when i do the disk mode without it being plunged in to USB it just says ok to disconnect but when i plug it in it says OK to disconnect it does not change.
I tried another iPod Video 5.5g with the same USB Cable and the same Computer port it shows up with my computer and itunes.
So how do I get rid of the OSOS?

If it doesn't come up in disk mode then the USB hardware is broken (either the connector, or the actual logic board). There is nothing you can do other than have it repaired or repair it yourself.
ipodpatcher, itunes, windows, etc all need USB MSC mode to be working to do *anything* to the player. Getting a copy of the OF will not help you; you cannot access the drive to change what's in OSOS.

No, putting new software on broken hardware wouldn't help. Only replacing the damaged hardware will work. But I would be quite careful in deciding that your MP3 player is really broken.
KoolMan:
so if the ipod charges but does not connect to the computer does that mean the main board is damaged?
