Wierd things happen (HID feature works!)
(1/1)
cubicdau:
Just plugged in my Sansa e260 (v1) running on rockbox to my debian (testing/squeeze) - gnome machine. Like usual vlc popped up (I always wanted to reset that default but no time till now).
But this time, I didn't stop it right away but listened to the first song it played. By accident I pushed the jog-wheel and began laughing.
Why so? I figured out that it is possible to control the volume via the gnome-volume-manager. Some kind of funny ...
The buttons are recognised as XF86 buttons so now I got a wired remote control for my media center.
This must be due to the core of rockbox and is indeed way of being a bug!

This is expected behaviour, when a DAP that uses Rockbox's USB mode then it also identifies itself as a multimedia keyboard and so can be used to remote control your music application, and potentially anything else (that only requires a few button presses to be operable).
AlexP:
Not a bug in the slightest, it is a feature. Rockbox can identify as a HID device and let you control volume, forward, back etc.
