Separating Audiobooks and Podcasts
« on: September 20, 2009, 02:31:12 PM »
So I'm a new convert  :) and really enjoying Rockbox so far.

My only complaint is the lack of a specific Audiobook and Podcast selection under database. Right now I'll hit shuffle and every once in awhile a podcast or audiobook pops up and it's a minor inconvenience but annoying all the same.

Is there some way to make rockbox exclude these files from the database? or maybe just specify genres to exclude?

You should be able to do it with this I think (I haven't tried it personally, I don't use the database):

Check your Specific Manual, for the Sansa e200:

Ignoring Directories During Database Initialization
You may have directories on your player whose contents should not be added to the database. Placing a file named database.ignore in a directory will exclude the
that directory and all its subdirectories from scanning their tags and adding them to the database. This will speed up the database initialization.
If a subdirectory of an 'ignored' directory should still be scanned, place a file named database.unignore in it. The files in that directory and its subdirectories will be scanned and added to the database.

BTW, I don't use the Database, I play everything from Folders.

Thank you both, I'm using rockbox on the Fuze currently, but I'll try Bruce's method when I manage to drag myself outta bed tomorrow.
