No, I don't own that iPod model. Just follow the Apple directions. Apple knows more about the iPod then either of us anyway.

Right after turning the ipod on, press simultaneously as in fig. 1 until the apple shows, then press simultaneously as in fig. 2 until the "check" shows.. then connect it to your pc, itunes, and follow the restoring instructions
Sometimes is better to fully charge the battery before anything. If you fail to get it into disk mode, there isn't much to do about it
