Purchasing large player for Rockbox
« on: September 12, 2009, 02:01:51 PM »
I am new here (and relatively unfamiliar with open-source firm-ware).  Please bear with me ???.

I want to add my entire cd collection (about 150 cd's) to a portable player in FLAC format.  I also want to add live shows recorded in FLAC from archive.org

I do not own any portable music device.  I want to buy one that supports RockBox (solely for FLAC compatability).  I have looked at the supported list, and cannot decide which device fits the bill for me.

1.  Large storage size
2. User-friendly change in firmware.

Thanks for any input (sorry if this is the wrong forum).

An 80 Gig iPod might work, I have a 60 Gig with over a thousand 10 or so minuet long MPEGs on it.

150 FLAC CDs, picked at random from my rips, = 42 GB.

Thanks for the input.  Now I am looking to track down a 60-80 gig G5,5.5 iPod for ~$100-150.  I look forward to using rockbox.

From the prices I see on my local Craigslist you should be able to find a fine one for that price well within a month.
