New to RockBox, help with video playback.

Hi i was hoping someone could help me, i have installed rockbox, and chosen the theme pen plus or something like that, i have videos on my ipod and wish to access them but cant seem to find how i do this now. If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure that your "Show Files" setting is set to "All" or "Supported". The setting is in Settings > General Settings > File View.

Second, bear in mind that Rockbox can only play back MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video files with MP3 audio. If you need help on transcoding your videos to work in Rockbox, check out the PluginMpegplayer wiki page for more info.

cool, thanx, do you know if it will show as video if i do all that or just have to access them via files. Thanx for info and any further info you can give me.

Provided the files are what Rockbox's Mpegplayer plugin expects, you can just select a video in the file viewer and Mpegplayer will launch automatically.

evilnick:
Bear in mind, however, that the video format that the iPod OF expects and that which Rockbox can play are different, so you cannot play any videos in Rockbox that you can in the Original Firmware.
You'd have to convert them and re-transfer them.
