Today's Current build

I tried to update to today's current build with a Viewpoint intensive WPS running on a Sansa e260.  Rockbox utility completed "Successfully", bootloader flashed up, and then a Loading screen came up and froze.

Loaded a back-up, tried again, same problem.

Loaded a back-up again, changed to a simple WPS, update worked but, when I tried to switch back to the Viewport WPS, crash.

"a Viewport intensive" WPS doesn't tell much. Why not say which WPS you're using?

I think he's using mine, HiVis.
Actually a custom version of HiVis I built for him.
I'll install today's build and see if I get the same problem. 

Edit:
Loading today's build, r22677 caused the same problem on mine.  Reloading the Stable Build, 3.3 puts it back to normal.  I get the same problem with all Themes including the default.  Codec failure errors.

It sounds more like a corrupted rockbox if even the default theme is not working.
Sometimes you cannot just copy over the existing rockbox folder this may need deleting and a clean copy put on the player. This is a sort of middle ground you can first reset settings etc.. If that doesn't work try the above and finally you may even have to format the player and start again.

a broken skin cannt cause a codec failure so make sure you are unzipping the whole zip!

I used the Rockbox Utility and manually installed on my Sansa e260.  Same result.
I also tried the latest build with the simulator with the same result.

I uninstalled Rockbox and the loader.
- Installed Rockbox 3.3.
- Installed my themes.
- Updated to yesterday's build.

It worked fine this time.  I suggest switching to the default theme before doing updates.  I used the Rockbox Utility for the install and update.

Theres no point in doing that.  At worst if you upgrade a build that cannot use your current theme, you will get the plain theme anyway.
