Gigabeat S Port FM Tuner Support

mods: i did a quick search and didn't see any threads on this.  please kill/move this if this isn't in the right spot.

I am just getting my feet wet with RockBox on a Gigabeat S60.  The wiki acknowledges the existence of the FM tuner, but I'm not seeing any note of support for the FM tuner.  Does anyone know what the current state of FM tuning support is?

Looks like it:

Yes, the tuner is working, with the exception of an intermittent quirk where it doesn't always properly tune on startup - sometimes you have to scan up or down one tick and then back to get it started. This occurs with about the same frequency on other targets with the same tuner chip.

Also, the wiki used to imply (still implies?) that the tuner is only present on the S60 - this may only be true in some markets. Every US market S30 I've laid hands on - which is about a dozen - had a tuner.

Hi,

Just installed RockBox tonite on my Gigabeat S60.  I set up dual boot on it.

I don't have the FM Radio item on my Main Menu page as any option at all.

I tried changing my Start Page to FM Radio....big mistake !!  Player would turn on...go to blank RockBox page....then power off after about 10 seconds of nothingness.

To resolve, or at least get back to operational status, I went into USB mode and deleted the .Rockbox folder from the Main player partition (using windows).  Then I re-extracted the Rockbox files.  Removed safely the player form the pc....then powered back up and I was back to goodness.

Thank you for all the hard work getting the S60 support as far along as it has come !!!

Regards,

David

Forgetting the non-present radio item for a minute there is a bug here - if the radio is not found then it shouldn't let you select radio as a startup screen.  Could you submit it to flyspray please?
