Carplayer(Alpine) + iPod with Rockbox problem
« on: September 09, 2009, 05:00:57 AM »
Hi!
My Alpine CAR player does not detect my iPod 80GB Classic when rockbox is on, only when norman Apple firmware is running.
Is there any fixes?

1)  What has this to do with Rockbox Utility?

2)  You do not have a classic, the classic does not run Rockbox.  You have an 80 GB ipod video

3)  Do you have the accessory power supply option turned on?  If not, this might help.  Otherwise it may just be that the accessory support in Rockbox is incomplete so some things work and others don't.  The only way to fix this is to work out what implementation is missing and the write it.

Yes, it is 80GB Video model indeed.
Accessory power, is it in rockbox settings somewhere?

Yep, the manual should help you here.

Now Alpine says error in data connection.
Accessory power and car-adapter mode are now both on.

Why car adaptor mode?  I don't think it does what you think:

Either way, the apple accessory protocol is only partially implemented, and I suspect your stereo is trying to use some parts that have not been implemented.

That's pretty hard to do - it's not documented anywhere. Not publically at least.
