e260 Rockbox lost sound

<< < (2/2)

BruceHP:
Try putting an MP3 file into a folder not named "Music" and see if it will play.

OK, I see, here are the details.
It's e260, currently loaded firmware 01.02.24A, rockboxed.
It has some older Rockbox version, maybe from late 2008, everything perfectly worked.
Until it stopped outputing sound as I described above. Only some noices when a new song loaded.
And it started to heat up abnormally.
We thought it was broken, but before throwing it into trash can, I loaded it's original firmware and *surprise* I heard the sound of songs. Original Sandisk software indicates no problem at all.
And in Rockbox, everything is as it was, just no sound.
I deleted rockbox directory and istalled release 3.2 - all default. It didn't change anything. I tried the latest build - no help. Completely clean, just downloaded Rockbox doesn't work.
How can it be at all?
I also reflashed Sandisk firmware using Rockbox Utility. It made no difference.
I didn't  get the advice to put mp3 file into a folder not named "Music", they are not in it already. "Music" folder is empty. Also, when connected to PC it creates 2 drives, one accessible, and one - not, is it normal?

BruceHP really has no idea what hes talking about so don't worry about his posts, and yes, thats normal.

Anyway, as I said above, it really sounds like your sansa is broken.  Some component in the DAC may have failed.  You can play around with settings and see if you find whatever combination that OF uses that still works, but I bet even the OF fails eventually.  I would look into getting a new player.

BruceHP:
Is there a Micro SD card in the slot?
