Can I compress the sound volume range?

I was wondering of there is any way in Rockbox to compress the range of sound volume on playback, so that I can decrease the maximum volume of songs without effecting the lower volume sounds.

Yes, a compressor/limiter DSP was added a couple weeks ago.
