disappearing bookmarks
« on: September 07, 2009, 11:13:42 PM »
I've been using Rockbox about 6 months and am very pleased with it.  I am running 3.2 on a Gigabeat F40 and an IRiver H340.

My problem is that if I create more than 10 bookmarks the older bookmarks disappear.  Is there anyway around this?  Is it a bug or 'feature'?

Thanks for any replies.

Do you mean the actual bookmark files disappear (this would be a bug) or do you just mean they aren't showing up in the "Recent Bookmarks" list (in which case - note the word "recent")?

I meant that they aren't showing up in the 'Recent Bookmarks' list.  I can see now that this is a feature.

Where are the actual bookmark files?  I didn't see them in the folders containing the audio files they bookmark.  I have my bookmark setting set to "ask - recent only".

Also, it is possible to have more than 10 'recent bookmarks'.

Thanks.

"Ask - Recent only" means just that, they are only written to the recent bookmark list. If you choose "Ask" it will also create a "local" bookmark file (which is located in the parent folder of the audio files; the same folder for playlists). I can understand if the manual is a bit unclear about this...

And the code could be improved too, it seems. If I read it right, if you set bookmarking to "Ask - Recent only" (or "Yes - Recent only") and then disable "Maintain a list of Recently Used Bookmarks", Rockbox will happily say "Bookmark Created" even though no bookmark was written.

To get more than 10 recent bookmarks, you need to change the code. An easy change though.

If you put a number of books each in their own subfolder then each subfolder will have its own set of bookmarks.

Is there a way to have each folder contain only the most recently created bookmark for the folder?

So that's what has been happening to me, it's all clear now.
