Ipod mini 2nd Gen: Having problems creating playlists

Hey,

I installed Rockbox onto my pod yesterday and tried to create playlists, and it doesnt work. Yes, I've read the manual many times, Googled, and browsed through the forums looking for similar posts . What happens is that when I enter the context menu from the (currently playing) song and try to create a playlist, after creating a name on the virtual keyboard, nothing happens when I press the PLAY button (which is supposed to exit and save any changes). No playlist.

I accidently created a root.m3u3 playlist which has all my songs in it, but I noticed that it appeared among my music files and not in the designated 'Playlist' folder.

I can't figure out what I may be doing wrong here. My music files are in a folder by themselves in the root menu. Can someone shed some light as to what I may be doing wrong?

Playlists are saved in the folder in which you've created them. They don't end up in /Playlists until you move them there.

I tried saving a playlist again according to the manuals, and tried looking for it in the same directory as the music, as you suggested. It's still not there though - went through every single folder just to be sure. This time, a playlist was created for sure though (saw some animation) - just can't find the file.

Should I reinstall Rockbox?

What have you got your "Show files" setting as at the moment?

Aha! Mine was at 'Supported' - changed it to 'All' and the missing playlist names appeared  . Btw I can't load them though - must you add the proper playlist extension (.m3u8) to all the playlist files for them to work? And is there a way to type small letters on the keyboard - I'm working only with caps atm.

The file extensions should be .m3u, or .m3u8 in order for Rockbox to regard them as playlists.

The guide for the virtual keyboard should be in the manual.

I've been on the manual and for the keyboard on 4.1.3 it says how to scroll through and select the characters, but the chars are in caps so was wondering.

It's okay, I'll try play around a bit more. Thanks for the really prompt replies - they were great and having loads of fun on Rockbox now.
