Why would you try to use a Windows version of the simulator on Linux? It compiles for Linux just fine.

Because I'd like to just use the simulator without having to install the whole development toolchain? (Or am I again missing something, and there's simulator sources available which can be compiled with plain gcc?)

Llorean:
It's a simulator. It's a native Linux (or Windows) program that merely simulates the UI of the device. No cross-compiling is necessary.

Thanx for the info -- I successfuly checked out from svn and built the simulator. :-) (Don't know how came I previously missed the excellent wiki page about the simulator...)
