iPod 2nd Gen w/ custom hard drive (80GB)

I'm planning to switch out a dead 20GB hard drive in a 2nd gen Classic for an 80GB one. This is probably a noob question but, will RB still install and run on the modded iPod?

It should as far as I know, but please be clear on terms - the 2nd gen is not a Classic, the Classic is the 6th gen.  You just have a 2nd gen ipod.

I've modified the title of the thread to reflect this - I very nearly just locked it saying that Rockbox doesn't run on the Classic.

can you even get 80GB drives in the 50pin connector the gen2 uses?

Yes, there was a Toshiba one, the MK8007GAH.

Yah I know it's just a 2nd generation iPod; just thought I'd be "clear" because eBay and every other reference is calling it a 2nd gen classic.
