5th Gen ipod playback & database issues
« on: August 31, 2009, 03:53:29 AM »
Hello recently I have attempted to utilize rockbox with files transferred to the device with windows media player transferring directly from the cd to the device folder with window's lossless format. I am running a slightly modified version of RB 3.3 supposed to be compatible with older 5th gens which I'm assuming is what I have because it nets a slight improvement over the current build from rockbox. however I'm getting ahead of myself the problems specifically is that every feature in rockbox works flawlessly but the music player, accessing the songs through the file explorer(1st on the startup menu) it will bring up the WPS and display the song, album, and artist but will not play the song. At this point I believe it to be wise to mention that with the current, archived and stable builds show the wps briefly with no sound and then return to the directory from which I selected the song. in addition the database will not complete its initialization process even after fifteen minutes which is a bit secondary to me because my files are already indexed and organized into folders and are perfectly functional through the file explorer. In any case help with this problem is much appreciated as one can tell my experience is limited and replies might be difficult for me to understand until I handle the jargon.

I'd guess it means WMA Lossless, which Rockbox doesn't support. That would explain the playback problem.

thanks I guess I should have read into what the format was designated and checked against the list of supported formats yet another brain-fart in the trail
