newbie questions: problems w/ album art and dbase wont update
(1/1)
edzillion:
New to rockbox. Seems a great improvement over the native firmware but I am having a few problems.
Album Art: read up on this and found the following statement:
--- Quote ---Currently Rockbox doesn't allow reading album art from the file's tags. In fact, it's presence has been known to cause freezes and other problems so it's advised that it be removed from your files.
--- End quote ---
Is this true? No problem if it doesn't support embedded album art, but freezing? Is there a feature that removes the art as it is synched, because I really don't want to remove embedded art from my library.
I turned on the option to copy folder.jpg to the track folder, but still don't see any album art. Perhaps it is the wrong size? I saw something saying the latest version will resize the jpg when it is synched. Is this by default or do I have to change some settings?
Database:
I wiped the ipod (5th gen 80gig) and wrote the newest apple firmware on to it to remove all the old itunes folders etc just to make sure there were no compatibility issues. The only track that appears in the DB is the first one I synched, I have deleted all the music I added using MediaMonkey, then rebuilt the dbase, and then tried synching a new track (using mediamonkey send to > ipod(synchronise). The DB still only shows that one track, but it is missing so it wont play.
Any ideas?
Chronon:
It may work with album art in some tracks. Just don't be surprised if you encounter problems as described.
Try opening the folder.jpg in Rockbox by pressing Select or >>| while it's highlighted. If this doesn't work then it won't be usable as album art. A possible reason for them not working is progressive scan, which isn't supported in Rockbox.
Regarding the database, did you update it after changing the files? Also, auto-update works best if you enable the directory cache.
