CF to ZIF for gigabeat
« on: August 17, 2009, 01:36:56 AM »
Ok so I just bought a cf to zif converter off of ebay.  I've got my gigabeat popped open and when I plug everything in my gigabeat won't turn on.  If I turn it on and then plug it in it goes off.  Any advice?

F, X, or S?

Which converter?

No brand name on CF to ZIF adapter.  Got off of ebay for a few bucks.

The F40 doesn't use a ZIF connector. Perhaps you could link to the auction to show what you have bought?

I can only assume you connected the adapter directly to the motherboard? This is not going to work unfortunately (according to NicolasP). It might be interesting to find out what the difference in the pinout is though.

Yeah that's not going to work. If you look at the gigabeat harddrive cables, they have 40 positions just like a zif drive but both the F and the S have some oddities in the pinout.

You need the other style adapter, like you'd use in an old ipod or iriver.
