Ipod docking stations
« on: August 13, 2009, 07:08:47 AM »
(I hope it's the right place for posting this...)

I have an Ipod 5.5g (30GB) and would like to use a docking station to (remote) control it (while Rockbox firmware is running).

With the Ipod Universal Dock, only the volume in-/decrease works with the remote control. (This feature is probably due to the Dock itself...)
With a JVC RA-P10 the play button works like the select button of the Ipod and the for-/backward ones just cause the back lighting to switch on...

Is there any way of doing better than this ?

Thanks

Hi,

you may try FS#10623, you might get a better behaviour of your remote.

Let me know about the result

Because it either:

a)  Isn't complete
b)  Needs testing to make sure it doesn't break anything else
c)  Isn't coded according to the Rockbox standards
d)  Hasn't been reviewed by a developer and everyone does this in their spare time
e)  Isn't done in the "correct" way
f) etc. etc. etc.

I have no idea what it is for this patch, but it could be many reasons.

The main thing is that there is no testers...

I can send a zip if you promise to report your feedback  :P

Ok. I'd like to be a tester. I have the Onkyo DS-A1X(B) dock. So give me that zip and I will give you full review.

Cool!

What is the size of your ipod hard drive? 30 or 80G?

Results of my test:

You should put these on the wiki with the other Onkyo test results:

I can give you access if you post your WikiName here or PM me.  The usual method is to go to the IRC channel and ask there.

I've added some buttons ("stop" was missing) but select, menu and navigate up/down are already there. It may work only in some screen, I have to debug that...

Can you tell me what does navigate left/right in the apple OS while playing screen? Does it affect the playlists?

I have made my test again and I found that:
- actualy left and right buttons in Apple OS have the same wierd function. If you are not playing any song, It will bring you to now playing screen and if you are listenning something it will go to main menu and stop playing (??).
- play button in original Rockbox is also working.
- up/down buttons are not working in your patch in any screen.

Thanks for the update.

I had a look at the user manual, these buttons affect the playlist if some are selected.

I had a look to the rockbox manual too, but I couldn't find no album or playlist navigation.

I was trying to read IAP packets in debug mode but it is very difficult because codes are changing very fast.
I found that IAP packet for up button is:
06 02 00 00 00 00 01 F7
??          ??
03 02 00 00 FB 00 01 F7
I mean I can see some fast changes from 06 to 03 and from 00 to FB, but what is between is hard to say.
Is there any other way to read IAP packets (to read whole sequence of packets)? Is there any other way how I could help?
