My Computer does not Recognise my Sansdisc e200 01.01.07p,
Dasha:
Hello to all ;D Can I get some help from somone Please?
I installed “Rockbox†over 18 months ago on my SansDisc e200 01.01.07p, it also has a 2 Gig SD Micro chip with 925mg of space on one and 960mg>system†on the other’ it is in “Auto detect mode†(I have tried to solve these problems in both) and it's in>shuffle modeâ€
Now I have several problems. :-[
1) My first problem is that I can plug into the Aux on my Yamaha stereo using an Aux cable and it will play normal but only so many song's then it start’s repeating?? (but at least it works)
2) but now my computer wont recognise the player SansDisc e200 01.01.07p is Drive (E) and the SD Micro chip is normally Drive F but it is showing neither on (My Computer) or Media Monkey and I can see the song is playing on the e200 and the seconds counting down but nothing is coming through the computer sound wise?
3) If I try to connect the e200 to the computer as normal and say delete the songs back to the computer when I plug the USB cord into the computer the e200 display goes to the Rockbox display then the stupid “Refresh Data Base†then >Music > instead of going to normal Default SansDisc Display and Charging mode and showing up as E & F on “My Comp†or in (Media Monkey)
4) It will also go > SansDisc Display then >a Flashing data script for “Rockbox†and it keeps "Flashing" until I press and hold down the “Reverse Button†and then it does the >Refreshing Database> and then >Music thing again. Nothing on the Computer and no sound I have opened “My Comp and there is no (E) & (F) showing as normalâ€
So can somone take the time to guide me through this all as I am not very literate with all the Jargon, I just love music and I am a 62 year old Rocker. Cheers to you all Dasha :D

You should upgrade to a newer build as one from 18 months ago will have had a lot of fixes and new features added.
Also, have a read of the manual and see if that answers your questions.
1) How are you selecting which songs to play? If you're simply selecting one file in a folder then Rockbox will build a dynamic playlist of the playable files in that folder. I'd guess that you have Shuffle on and Repeat set to All or Shuffle so that after Rockbox has played all the files in that folder, it will repeat.
2) Try powering the Sansa on, then connecting it to your computer. With the (very old) build you're using this should cause it to restart into the Original Firmware, which should show the Sansa (and the SD card) as separate drives. With a newer build, Rockbox will use its own USB mode.
The reason that it's no longer showing up as separate drives when using the Original Firmware is probably because of the USB mode being "Auto detect mode" - this should be set to MSC mode (or whatever name they give the other option to MTP mode).
FYI - MTP mode is the one where Windows Media Player can communicate with the Sansa but regular programs such as Explorer cannot.
I hope that helps you, and again, I heartily recommend upgrading as well as having a read of the manual.

If you can't get access via USB then it sounds like the original firmware has some corruption. (This build far predates USB mode for your player.) You may need to follow the first instructions (up to and including "Restoring the original firmware") here.

It sounds like Rockbox may not actually be installed on your player. It sounds to me like you're describing the SanDisk boot splash followed by the Rockbox bootloader complaining about something and rebooting. This process repeats until you escape it by manually booting the original firmware by holding the "<<" button.
My best advice at the moment is to follow the instructions I posted above. This should restore your original firmware to working condition. Then get a manual and follow the installation instructions there to install a fresh build of Rockbox.
BruceHP:
01.01.07p sounds like very old Sansa Firmware, I believe the current version is 1.02.20P. I would start by switching to MSC mode and updating the Sansa firmware to the current version. Then I would DL the RockBox Utility and install the Current Build of Rockbox. Always start your player and allow it to boot into Rockbox Before plugging it into your computer. With your player it is best never to use a folder named Music', your choice, but doing so invites trouble.
HTH!

I followed the Upgrade Firmware instructions for SanDisk e200 the fact that it looks like the c200 did not deter me. After doing a Firmware upgrade I checked Via “â€System Etc to see if in fact it was upgraded and it is not? It is still e200 01.01.07p?
So I moved onto the RockBox Installed upgrade version and the same thing happened It went all tne way through the prompt >Run> Open>Extact> finish, Again it did not say anything about Switch to "HOLD and Hold Record Button down"
It did not tell me anywhere in S/Disk or Rockbox about “Hold Switch on and “Hold down Record button†should I have done that before I connect to the computer for the upgrades or what? I only found all that out after 2 hours of trying to find out what I have done wrong?? I am about to go nut’s what do I do now Guys Dasha :-\
