Playlist not playing in correct order?

Hi all, I'm encountering a slight problem on my rockbox version 3.3. It will play my playlist just fine, but the song's aren't in the order that I have specified on my playlist. What I mean is, all the songs load fine but the order is all wrong. The song that is supposed to first would be like 5th and the 15th song would be first in the list, etc.

Is there a way to get rockbox to play my songs in the order I have them on my playlist??

Hmmm... My sansa C200 plays folders contents in order not corresponding to track number (stored in tag) or to track name. The shuffle mode is off! The order is not correct but is stable (is not random). What is going on??

Folder contents will be played in filename order normally. Nothing from the tags is used for folders.

The track names start with the track number, i.e. 01 <first_track_name>, 02 <second_track_name> .... all the tags are correct and contain the corresponding track number but still the order is not correct. It started when I've updated Rockbox to 3.3 version.

Sansa directory listing, play order, directory viewed on sansa display, play the track view (track number followed by dot).

The attached views are typical but not the only ones I've encountered. The same effect I've found in other folders.
If directory (all tracks) played from original Sansa software the order rests correct!

From what I can tell of your screen shots, you're launching the playback from the database - not the file viewer - since "All tracks" isn't a folder name, it's a view in the database.

Is that correct ?

Yes, it's correct. I think that database omits track number placed on the begining of the file name. Is it correct?  Why?

Please be careful then. Playing "folders" and playing entries in the database are two entirely different things.

The file browser is based on filenames.  It sorts based on the filename.

The database browser is based on tags.  It sorts based on the track number tag.

p.s. I know there is some half-baked code where the database browser attempts to work out track numbers from other tags, but I'm ignoring this because it shouldn't do that...

I know that playing database is not the same as playing database entry but the database is more comfortable way to find desired album: if I had albums of the same artist stored in Sansa inboard memory and on SD they appear in one database entry of the artist. If searched by file directory they appear in separate tree entries: MicroSD music directory and inboard memory music directory. Why have I to remember where desired album is stored?? Database browsing let me forget the album location!

All the tags are correct in previously displayed Procol Harum directory (same in other directories with incorrect playing order)

When you choose <All tracks> the database sorts based on track title.  I believe this is why they aren't playing by track number.

It sorts this way if you insert an artist from the database too.
