Gigabeat F[x]. RB Ver 3.3
« on: July 31, 2009, 01:59:22 AM »
Okay so I have had Rockbox on my Gigabeat for a lonnnggg time.
This is the first time this has happened to me.

Every time I turn on my Gigabeat, I get the bootloading screen.
When usually it would be the Gigabeat loading bar, then straight
to the Rockbox splash right? Well it shows the Gigabeat loading bar
then the bootloading then the splash.

Everytime this happens, the volume automatically decreases to the
lowest. The funny thing is, I can`t press anything. It`s like the down
button on the D-Pad is constantly being pressed down.

And lastly, it gets hot after a while, like if I just leave it as is, the disk
inside spins a bit faster than usual, and the Gigabeat starts to heat up.

I`ve tried re-installing, opening it up, and plugging in the disk drive thingy,
and nothing. It`s still doing it. It`s just been recently it has been doing this.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

maybe the down button on the d-pad really is being pressed.

the batteries in the F are notorious for failing and ballooning up in such a way that they interfere with the touchpad.

you can get replacement batteries fairly easily online, though, and they are not hard to install.

I guess I`ll try moving it around a bit. Thanks for the suggestion. o:

Update:

It`s nothing physical. It`s the thing itself. It would be okay for like

5 - 10 minutes. Then after that the volume would just go down, and

I wouldn`t be able to press anything. ._. So yeah, I don`t know. I

installed VER3 of Gigabeat OFW and still nothing. @_@ I don`t get

what`s wrong with it. >.<!

like i said this is usually because of an expanded battery, but sometimes the touchpad does fail.

Try booting it up with the front panel off.

(the front panel is removed by popping off the bottom plastic and removing two screws, then sliding it down about 8mm)

Kay so after a long time messing around with it.

I finally figured out what`s causing it. It`s the

Vol - being bugged or something. Can someone give

me like "patch" to disable vol + vol - ? >.< Lol.

If anyone could it would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
