v3.3 Database initialize failure: iAudio x5
« on: July 28, 2009, 10:46:20 PM »
Recently, I upgraded the Rockbox to v3.3 on my iAudio x5. It plays playlists just fine but when I try to use the database, I am prompted to initialize the DB. I select 'Yes' then watch as over 6,000 records are added. Eventually, I get this on the screen:

*PANIC*
8tkov tagcache

After restarting, I am still prompted to initialize the DB again. Should I go back to an older version? If so, which one should I use and how do I install over this one?

I used to have this problem on my Iriver H340, but in the end of june there were some improvements on database stability and since then the database works like a charm. If you're using the stable release 3.3, try a current build and see if that solves your problem.

And of course, the easiest way to install is to use the Rockbox Utility.

Thanks for the suggestion. I installed the latest build and again initialized the DB. This time it completed successfully on my iAudio x5. I hope there aren't other issues, I haven't had the chance to play with it yet.
