What player would you buy today, to use Rockbox?

<< < (7/7)

StsIkel:
I think the answer to this has been pretty secure for a good couple of years now.

Portability? e280
Recording? h140
Speed & power? X60
All-rounder? i5.5

You have to be careful with Gigabeats as they're built quite flimsily compared to the other three.

GodEater:
The other three? I count four you mention there ;)

Personally, I think the build quality on the Gigabeats is just fine.

AlexP:
I think he meant plural gigabeats and not the gigabeat S :)

I agree with the first two, in your speed and power I'd put the gigabeat F just because it is much easier to get than the X and is identical save a slightly smaller screen (and case), and in the last because I'm just not that fond of ipods :)

Michael7:
I use a Gigabeat F. I liked it so much I bought another if the first one breaks. The only thing I don't like about them is the grainy texture the casing is finished with, could slip out of the hand easily.
I got a Phillips 1620 cheap off Ebay and I think it is great, a bit chunky for 6GB nowadays but well made, battery life could be better though. Tried an Ipod Video but I don't like the wheel.

AlexP:
I pruned a few pointless posts from this thread - posts about non-rockboxable players (or even what streaming services are available where) are completely irrelevant.
