Sony Car Stereo Dock Control?

I have a Sony car stereo that controls an iPod but does not work with Rockbox.  I wonder if this is something that I can work around.  What I've done instead is to just use the dock connector as a charger and run a 1/8" line to the aux input, but I'm really missing the ability to control it from the Sony.   Any tricks or plugins I should know about?

Thanks, so I guess it's the RCA inputs then.  At least the charger works, but it doesn't pause the player in "car charger" mode.

iPod 5.5th gen.

I never liked my iPod one bit until I got Rockbox.  Now I see that they are in high demand.  I wonder how much of that demand is *Because* of Rockbox.
