Can I run Rockbox on Intenso Video Cruiser ?!

(1/1)

VenueVomit:
Hi,

I recently bought a new mp3/mp4 player called Intenso Video Cruiser (8GB).

I wonder if it is possible to run Rockbox on it?!?!
The manual says  "the firmware can be upgraded".

Which rockbox version would you recommend to try on my player?

thanks for help!!

cool_walking_:
No.  Rockbox only runs on the players listed on the front page.  It needs to be specifically ported to each individual player in order to work.  It is not magic.

VenueVomit:
ok, thank you.  :(

But is it definately impossible to use rockbox on my player?
Technically, it should handle a different firmware then the one that is actually installed...

Is it not worth at all for me to try to bring rockbox on my player?

By the way: Does anyone know how i can use a gba emulation software on it (without rockbox)?

thanks for help!

cool_walking_:
Well you can't currently run Rockbox on it at all.

But the firmware has to be specifically created for that hardware.  You can't just take firmware from an iPod and expect it to work if you try to install it on your television.  They are different devices with different hardware.  If you know what a driver is on a computer, a very simplified way to put it is that Rockbox doesn't have drivers for your player.  Rockbox does not know how to use the screen, buttons, sound hardware, etc. in your player.

But yes, it MAY be possible (I don't know - I don't know anything about this Intenso Video Cruiser) to one day run Rockbox on it, if someone (i.e. you and/or people that you round up on Intenso Video Cruiser forums to help you) actually does the hard work to port it - see the link in my previous post.
