Hi there. I've been using Rockbox ever since I got my Sansa e260 last fall. Recently I noticed that 4 songs(from the same album) I put on my player were not showing up in the database. I've tried to update countless times but to no avail. I've also tried deleting the files and copying them over from my computer again, but still nothing. When I try to play the songs directly from the MUSIC folder, nothing shows up in now playing but this strange little box made from dots, then it goes to the next song, showing it as 0:00 long and a few seconds later, back to the menu.
I've checked the files, they are 128 kbps encoded by LAME 3.97
Any help is appreciated.

How does the metadata look if viewed on your PC? Is it possible that they use glyphs that aren't in the font? That empty box character is kind of the default if you try to display a glyph that is not included in the font you're using. Apparently that's not the only problem though, since you mention the progress bar stuck at 0:00 until it returns you to the menu (or is it the file browser?). Does a file system check on your Sansa return any errors (e.g. fsck.vfat or chkdsk)?

By system check do you mean going to Rockbox Info and pressing the middle select button? When i did that it said scanning disk.. then nothing else afterwards
The songs play fine on my computer though. Is there a program to re-encode MP3 files or something? Perhaps that would help
*thanks for the response btw

A file system check is something done on the PC to ensure there's nothing wrong with the file system. In Windows you would use chkdsk and in Linux you would use fsck.vfat.
