Help with iRiver H3xx themes on iPod Color/Photo
« on: July 18, 2009, 03:22:50 PM »
Recently, I tried installing the HiPod themes made by scizrboy for the iRiver onto my iPod Color/Photo because I've read that themes on both platforms are interchangeable. However, once I started up Rockbox and changed the WPS and CFG files, the audio player looked like crap. It was in black and white with elongating bars synchronized to the music, and looked nothing like the pictures promised.

I was wondering if there is a solution to this problem, or if there is not, is there another iPod like theme for the iPod Color/Photo.

I am running the latest Rockbox release and have tried all of the HiPod versions.

It sounds like the theme reverted to the built-in default, which means the theme needs some work in order to function properly. You'll need to take a look at the .wps file for each theme and make sure that they follow the correct syntax (most likely they will need the %P tag removed and %pb tag changed to the new syntax). You can consult the CustomWPS page on the Wiki for all of the various tags and their proper syntax in order to fix the themes and make them work again.

Thanks for the advice, but what do I do with the tag %m that is not followed by parameters? I've already read about the %P, %pb, %m tag changes.

So how should I deal with this?

Code: [Select]
%m%al%t10  %pp of %pe;%al%t10  %pvdB

The %m|x| was used to specify a left margin for the info; in your example, since "x" is not explicit, it seems the left margin was 0 anyway, so to fix that specific line, theoretically (probably if other previous changes to the wps do not interfere with this line) it would be enough to just remove it and leave it "%al%t10  %pp of %pe;%al%t10  %pvdB", but placing exactly that within a viewport would allow you to precisely specify both vertical and horizontal positions for the info, as explained where karashata and Chronon indicated... in that case you should probably put everything else within a viewport.
