Shortcuts in main menu
« on: July 13, 2009, 05:00:20 PM »
Hello. I tried make a shortcut for awsome pictureflow plugin but it only appear in files>>>shortcuts>>pictureflow.rockbox.... Well I wouldnt call it *shortcut* as i need click triple times to reach this. Instead i propose to make shortcuts in main menu as existing items (files, database, setting etc..) . It can be shown on down the list, splitted by horizontal line.
I would just add additional option: "add to main menu" next to "add to shortcuts".

Sorry for my english.

I doubt that this will happen as the consensus is that the Main Menu items should be as consistent as possible.

However much I like the idea (and I do), I think that adding new options might make support for blind users more problematic, as we wouldn't KNOW that down x3 always takes the users to the same menu option.

Shortcuts are implemented as files, and the plugin they are associated with just goes to the target of the shortcut, so currently there is no way to have shortcuts appear outside of the Files menu. Actually adding shortcut menu items would be an entirely new feature.

So then, that would be my feature request.  ;)

And smells awfully similar to customizable menus, which is a no-do.

the feature could be implemented only below the current menu items with a limit of x shortcuts.  that way, if a blind user needs help, the shortcuts would be below the menu items and have no effect on troubleshooting.
